US orders (pretty much) shipped; onto international!
over 5 years ago – Wed, Oct 24, 2018 at 09:45:21 PM

Hi Kickstarter friends!

I'm down to the last few US orders, and am starting on international shipping as soon as I finish this update! If you are a US backer and you have not gotten either your goods or a tracking number from me, please check your email! I have emailed a handful of you about your order. There are a few items I ended up being unable to fulfill (I think about 15 or so people were affected by this), and in the interest of time and moving forward I have been either sending out extra goodies to reflect your pledge level, or I've been refunding the cost of the item. All other US orders should have already been fulfilled or are on their way now, and I'll have all international orders shipped out by the end of the month!

The prints will still ship separately once they are editioned, which should be in January or February (I will post a few cool updates about the process of editioning prints once that starts!). I am not charging extra to ship ship the prints. Thanks everyone for being amazing and patient with this process :)

Also my webstore at www.bradytarot.com will go live by Halloween, so if you wanted to purchase decks and did not get a chance to back this Kickstarter, your time is coming soon!

Back to work!

Kickstarter backers at CATLAND in Brooklyn
over 5 years ago – Fri, Sep 28, 2018 at 09:57:17 PM

Hey Kickstarter folks!

Tomorrow is my final tour stop at Catland in Brooklyn! I have a very limited number of decks at this event, so I need any backer who plans on picking up a deck to let me know before 2 pm est on Saturday September 29th so I can set one aside for you. Otherwise it will be sold to Catland for the event.

Looks like we are still on track for the delivery to arrive shortly after I return from the tour, so even if you miss your chance here, your deck will ship out to you shortly.

Looking forward to meeting y'all in Brooklyn!

Why I am touring now
over 5 years ago – Mon, Sep 10, 2018 at 09:56:46 PM

I got a few emails from backers who were (very rightfully) hurt that I was going on tour with a few decks before shipping out to Kickstarter and BackerKit supporters, and I felt I owed all of you both an apology and an explanation about this decision.

As all of y'all know, this project has taken a lot more time than I anticipated. Up until early May, that was all on me because I was in control of how long I spent making each card. Since May, the wait time was out of my control. Once I completed the images, I sent the digital files to the factory and was under the impression that production would take 2 months. What ended up actually happening is that it took closer to 4 or 5 months. Toward the end, I was antsy to get things rolling, so as soon as I sent my final payment I began booking my tour dates. These dates gave the decks a full 2 months to get to me, which I was told was plenty of time (it was supposed to take 6-7 weeks from the time of payment). I assumed what would happen was that the decks would arrive a week or two before my tour began, and I would begin shipping out before I hit the road. While on the road, I would hire people to help me ship the rest out while I was promoting the deck.

Booking these events was no problem, and I got them all set up pretty quickly. I then received word from China that the shipping was delayed by two weeks. Not the end of the world, that just meant they would arrive right when I left. Just to be safe, I had them rush ship 108 decks to be sure I'd have some for those first few stops, then I would just get more shipped out to my next stop once they arrived in Denver. My friends and hired help would begin shipping to you without me there as soon as the rest of the decks arrived.

Further unforeseen delays in China happened after that, making the bulk of my shipment's arrival time fall in the first or second week of October, right after I was scheduled to arrive home from tour. I was faced with either cancelling all my tour stops after booking and promoting them and having the 108 decks I rushed sit in my house, or I could keep the dates and set aside decks for the Kickstarter/BackerKit folks who come to the events.

It's really not a perfect solution, and it's a decision I spent a lot of time thinking about. I know it may appear like I don't value my backers, but that could not be further from the truth. I could not have made this project happen without every single one of you, and truly think about my gratitude to you all daily. It was a difficult decision to make, but since promotional responsibility lands solely on me (as this is an independently published deck) and I would be unable to make a tour happen again until March of 2019, I decided to keep the dates.

Again, I'm very sorry to my backers who feel hurt or betrayed. You have every right to be upset. I hope you can understand why I made the decision to continue with the tour. Please feel free to contact me with any concerns about this. Also, any backers who will be at my tour stops are encouraged to contact me so I know to set aside a deck for you to pick up.

All the best,

Emi

I also got confirmation about times from two of my stops, SMFA in Boston and Catland in Brooklyn.

SMFA: Thursday Sept 27th. 11:45am-1:45 pm in the SMFA library. This event is open to the public. For backers who wanted to pick up their deck and cannot make it at that time (since it is more geared towards students), I will set something up later that evening for you to come get your deck and chat with me if you'd like.

CATLAND: Saturday Sept 29th. 6-9 pm
